Music
The music ministry at
Viewmont Baptist Church is a very important part of the church’s
identity. The vitality and quality of
music continues to be an integral part of the life of this church.
The music ministry’s commitment to excellence is taught,
sung and played in worship and in the weekly rehearsals. Our
Pastor of Music and Worship, Allen York, directs and leads
many of the groups and ensembles that regularly participate in
worship. With an extensive amount of experience in choral
conducting, solo and piano work, and leading churches in music
ministry, he feels that musical excellence, and a passionate
desire to express our love through music to a God who first loved
all people, is one of the most important ministries in the
life of any church.

The Congregation makes up
the largest choir at VBC. Singing together about our journeys of
faith as a body of believers is
one of the most important tasks a church can undertake. It is
important to sing a broad spectrum of music that enables
individuals to feel that they are a part of the history of the
Church, as well as the present and future part of the Church.
Participation in this group is strongly encouraged and supported!
Everyone, members and non-members, are encouraged to
participate in the musical life of this church. If you are
interested in talking about the music of Viewmont Baptist Church
and your level of participation, please contact our Pastor of
Music and Worship.

Other opportunities include:

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir leads our 11 o’clock worship
service on a weekly basis. They sing a variety of styles of
anthems from
classical to traditional to newly composed anthems. Their rehearsal
is on Wednesday evenings. Please contact our Pastor
of Music and Worship if you are interested in becoming a part of
this choir.

Viewmont Adult Handbell Choir
Viewmont Adult Handbell Choir is a
vibrant, dedicated group of folk who take the art of handbell
ringing seriously. They
rehearse weekly and play frequently in the worship services and at
other venues. This five-octave choir rings many different
kinds of music and has a wonderful repertoire.

Children’s Choirs
Children’s Choirs are an extremely important part of the children’s
ministry at VBC. We have choirs for 4 & 5 years old, first
and second grade, and third through fifth grade. Led by wonderful
directors and workers, these children learn to love music
and learn about God and the Church through music. The older choirs
sing in worship periodically and also work on seasonal
programs throughout the year.

Fresh Spirit Ensemble
Fresh Spirit Ensemble leads our Fresh Spirit worship at
8:30 a.m. on Sundays. This ensemble not only leads
congregational music, but also prepares its own music on a weekly
basis. This group is led by piano, guitars, drums and
keyboard, and involves several vocalists. Unlike many praise teams,
this ensemble does not “perform” for the congregation,
but leads and encourages the congregation to sing.
